Iodine is a chemical element with the symbol I
Iodine (or iodine) is extremely important for most reef inhabitants, especially invertebrates need it to maintain cell functions. The iodine concentration in the oceans is between 0.025 - 0.064 mg / l.
Many colors of coral in the marine aquarium are enhanced by iodine - especially in combination with potassium. An additional dose of iodine can visibly improve iodine deficiency in many corals after just two weeks. Especially xenias and bladder corals show an increased growth with sufficient iodine supply.
The iodine concentration in the marine aquarium should be between 0.02-0.06 mg / l, as in nature.
